Lots of genealogical happenings just before the holidays – here’s a summary:
- The Irish Genealogical Research Society has added over 4000 entries to its Early Marriage Index, many from Church of Ireland Marriage Licence Bonds (MLBs) from Cloyne, Kildare and Elphin. Remember, even Roman Catholic couples sometimes secured marriage licenses from the Church of Ireland in the 18th century to ensure their union was considered legal. More information about the new data at http://www.irishancestors.ie/?p=6207.
- Findmypast announces new records every Friday at http://blog.findmypast.com/fridays/. Their offering this week included U.S. birth/death records from Idaho and Arizona and Utah marriages, 1871 Worldwide British Army Index, and some death/burial records from England and Wales.
- Findmypast announced it will again celebrate Start Your Family Tree Week December 26-January 1. Lots of special activities are planned including Family Tree Awards and the release of 90,000 Revolutionary War pension records. Watch for more information at their website http://www.findmypast.com/.
- Ireland Genealogical Project volunteers continue to add items (both photos and records). Keep an eye on their website at http://www.igp-web.com/.
