Greetings! I’ve happy to be back after 12 days away from home! We expected to be gone less than half that time but the passing of my 92-year-old aunt extended our trip.
My aunt Bertha had five children, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild – and a life well-lived! While it was wonderful to visit with relatives I hadn’t seen for years and get acquainted with several I’d never met before, my limited Internet access during this period frustrated me, and I felt a little guilty for not having any genealogy news to share with you.
Here’s a valuable announcement: You still have time to register for the class next Saturday, June 13. It’s “Irish Saturday,” according to Irish Genealogical Society International (IGSI). Mary Wickersham, past IGSI president, will be speaking about the Findmypast website. This is a great opportunity to learn more about Findmypast, one of the largest genealogy research sites and now incorporating databases from the former “Origins” website. Learn how to make the most of these resources.
Join us Saturday, June 13, 10:30 am – 12 noon. Classes are held at the Minnesota Genealogical Society (MGS) library at 1185 Concord St N, S St Paul, MN.
The class fee is $10 for IGSI members and $15 for non-members. If you’re not able to attend in person, you can purchase class notes for only $5.
