Your calendars are probably marked for this auspicious date, but here’s a reminder about what’s scheduled for tomorrow, July 8, 2015.
The National Library of Ireland (NLI) will be releasing its collection of Irish Catholic parish microfilms – that’s almost 400,000 images of (mostly) baptism and marriage records from the 1740s to the 1880s. NLI has been working on this digitization effort for three years.
Remember these images are not indexed. In order to make good use of the records you must have an idea where your Irish Catholic ancestors lived.
This feels very much like Christmas in July.
