The “Genealogy at a Glance” series, published by Genealogical Publishing Company, is designed to cover the basic elements of genealogical research. These laminated, four-page guides have been compiled by respected authorities on the topic and are really handy to carry along on research trips because they take so little space.
Currently there are 31 titles in the series. Booklet topics include ethnic research (e.g., Irish, Scots-Irish), research in various states (e.g., Pennsylvania, Michigan), as well as miscellaneous other topics (e.g., research at the Family History Library, Ellis Island, American cemeteries). Some of the latest booklets to be published cover Ohio, Maryland and Evernote. You can view a complete list of the “Genealogy at a Glance” publications at www.genealogical.com.
The IGSI bookstore currently carries four “Genealogy at a Glance” titles:
Irish Genealogy Research by Brian Mitchell
Scottish Genealogy Research by David Dobson
Scots-Irish Irish Genealogy Research by Brian Mitchell
French-Canadian Genealogy Research by Denise R. Larson
You can order them here: www.irishgenealogical.org/bookstore. (Note: The easiest way to find them on the IGSI website is to go to the last bookstore page, #26.)
While it’s too late to purchase them as stocking-stuffer gifts, it’s never too late to give yourself another research tool.
