Brian Mitchell is widely recognized for his genealogical expertise in Derry City and County. His book, A New Genealogical Atlas of Ireland, is considered one of the standard guides for Irish research. Now Mitchell has published two new books, The People of Derry City, 1921, and The Place Names of County Derry.
Claire Santry writes about them in her May 6th blog posting: www.irishgenealogynews.com.
Books are wonderful resources, but — wouldn’t it be a treat to hear Brian Mitchell speak in person? You don’t have to travel to Derry in order to do just that. Register for the Celtic Connections Conference, to be held August 5-6, in Minneapolis, MN, where he is slated as a presenter.
Brian Mitchell will deliver the keynote address on Friday, August 5, speaking about “Irish Placenames in Tracing Family History.”
On Saturday, August 6, conference attendees have a second opportunity to hear Mitchell when he talks about “Plantation Families of Northwest Ulster: Record Sources.”
