I love the title of the IGSI class scheduled for Irish Saturday (July 14): “Irish Research Gems of the Minnesota Genealogical Library.” Ann Eccles and Fern Wilcox will be presenting a class, leading a tour of the library, and telling you about valuable resources in both the Irish collection and the rest of the MGS library. Cost is only $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
The library would be a COOL place to spend a hot, muggy Saturday – and, as an additional benefit, you might pick up information to help with your Irish family history research.
Note there is no class scheduled on Irish Saturday in August. We encourage everyone to attend the Minnesota Irish Fair that weekend.
While we’re looking ahead to August, remember to save the date for the Genealogical Book Sale on Saturday, August 25 from 9 am to 3 pm. The MGS library, as well as MGS branches and affiliates, will be selling duplicate holdings and other excess materials including some out-of-print publications. At the IGSI bookstore, we’re “cleaning house” and will also have bargains available. Mark your calendar for this shopping event – and hang around for the potluck picnic later that afternoon at Thompson Park.
