Reimagining the National Library

Earlier this month the National Library of Ireland announced plans for a four-year, major redevelopment of the main building on Kildare Street.

The project is called ‘Reimagining the National Library’. It will allow the NLI to create the storage and preservation conditions necessary to keep the national collections safe for the long-term. At the same time, the library will benefit from enhanced public spaces and services.

Some service restrictions are scheduled to begin soon. Of significance to those traveling to Dublin later this summer, the Main and Manuscript Reading Rooms will be closed on Mondays beginning August 14.
