Ballincollig military men in your ancestry?

A remarkable resource is featured as September’s Archive of the Month at the Representative Church Body (RCB) Library. This collection tells the stories of military men and their families based in Ballincollig, County Cork, 1810-1922.

Local historian Anne Donaldson compiled the names of 2187 soldiers who were either married or buried at the Church of Ireland parish of Carrigrohane, or whose children were baptised there. Supplementing church records with other sources, Donaldson’s spreadsheet includes extensive details about the soldiers and their families. Read more here:,
