Clare Roots Society sponsors “Gathering the Scattering”

Clare Roots Society is hosting its Second International Family History Conference in Ennis (County Clare, Ireland) from April 2-6, 2013.

They have a great line-up of speakers on Saturday, April 6, including:

  • Michael Gandy, editor of The Genealogist’s Magazine, an internationally renowned  journal;
  • Peter Higginbotham, who is an expert on workhouses in Ireland and the UK.  John Grenham wrote, “Peter is the man who knows more about workhouses than anyone on the planet…and his talk on its own would make it worth attending.”
  • Catriona Crowe from the National Archives;
  • Steven and Kit Smyrl, known from the RTE series Dead Money speaking on probate genealogy;
  • Eileen O Dúill on tracing American cousins;
  • Fiona Fitzsimons from Eneclann will  present a talk on pre-18th century genealogy sources.

It promises to be a great day with a week of tours, lectures and two book launches in the days leading up to it.
